ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Sam and I’m a fitness and nutrition coach. I help busy people build strength inside and out and balance health with their many competing priorities.  As an insecure band kid turned overachieving  (ahem, overcompensating) adult, I’ve never exactly thought of myself as an athlete. I know what it’s like to feel like there’s never enough time to make exercise or nutrition a priority. I know what it’s like to feel like you can't find a fitness program you can stick with and like you're stuck in the diet culture yo-yo. And I know what it’s like to feel vulnerable at the gym.

Working with a dedicated coach - someone who’s committed to getting you where you want to be and has the knowledge to do so - makes the process of reclaiming your health about a zillion times easier. Just working with a personal trainer at my local gym helped me balance my health with my extremely demanding job, extensive volunteer stuff, friends, dog, family, etc, and it changed my life. I found a way to challenge myself consistently and I found greater strength. Not just strength to pick up heavy weights or run faster, although the confidence I found started there, but the strength to battle anxiety and depression, strength to develop a healthier relationship with alcohol, strength to be kinder to myself, and ultimately the strength to leave a job that wasn’t serving me. And most importantly, I had a blast working with my trainer. It was new and fun and challenging. It showed me that taking care of my body (in ways that were doable) was one of the most rewarding things I could do.

We are complex, unique beings and our health in one area is deeply connected to our health in other areas. I know that most people are carrying heavy emotional loads and we all feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day. I help people find easy, sustainable, impactful ways to get stronger, more stable, more mobile or whatever their goals may be.

I’m a real person. I love cookie dough Blizzards and I don’t feel like working out every day. I just moved from NYC back home to central Illinois with my best dog, Ted. My life's work is to create a space that’s inclusive and encouraging for all bodies, fitness levels, and health goals, where people build strength in many facets of their life.
